Constructive Feedback Friday

This is my first attempt at re-editing the photo based on the feedback. I really appreciate all the feedback, and I agree.......I do like it better warmed up and without the blurry rock, that I somehow didn't notice when I edited this the first time.

I am submitting this photo for constructive criticism at Iheartfaces.

I love this photo of my daughter! Just thought I'd see what some more experienced people have to say. I shot in manual mode and edited with Photoshop Elements 6. I personally love the crop, but was wondering if maybe it needed to be cropped closer in. Also, I think maybe I should have raised the opacity of my soft light layer in the color and reduced my diffuse glow layer a touch in the b and w. I love a high contrast black and white, but I think maybe the highlights might be a bit bright. I think they look better if you click on them and view them full size, but I want to put the color one on canvas, so I want to make sure it's at its best.

  1. Hello,

I love this photo--because of the colors in it--especially her cute little sweater!!

That said, I probably will keep it colored, decrease the blue a bit, and maybe warm up the photo just ever so slightly. And since I am so into this texture thing, try adding a little texture will be fun! Hope that helps. :)

  2. I think you did a beautiful job with the editing. There is something on the edge of the water that I would probably clone stamp out of there. Other than that, I really love what you have done with the photo. I'm the very amateur contributor, so hopefully one of the experts will stop by and give some suggestions.

BTW, I love the song playing (Who Am I). I love Casting Crowns. I'm also a middle school teacher (still teaching). Isn't that age so fun? Quirky, immature, funny and sometimes sweet. :)

  3. oh those baby blues, I love the color version- it's just very bright and crisp. I also love high contrast and don't think there's anything wrong with it. :) I am not a fan of the shadowing you've put around the photos, but that's totally personal preference.

    here's my edit

  5. Your daughter is precious! I think you did a great job on your editing and would only suggestion some minor adjustments.
Now, I am in no way an expert, but I do agree with rowas & drewmark19's comments above to warm up the photo just a little, reduce the blue (slightly) and remove the distraction at the edge of the water.
I cropped the photo a little on the right. This helped to remove some of the distraction. I used the Clone Stamp to remove the rest. Here is a link to my edit.

  6. I agree with the rest, warm up the image just a touch. I don't think I would change a thing with the crop, I love how she leads you to the right of the image.

    Great job.
